Baby's First Food

This cereal is also recommended for pregnant/nursing mothers and weaning babies.

For babies, start with just the short grain brown rice, washed, dried, ground and cooked with kombu - no salt since babies should not ingest salt for at least a year. You might want to make it thinner at first by reducing the amount of grain that is added to the water. Then after a week or so, add the washed & dried sweet rice to brown rice, grind, and again cook with the kombu. Next, add washed & dried whole oats, grind, cook with kombu, and after 4 weeks, add the sesame seeds, grind all, and cook with kombu. Besides gradually adding ingredients, you can gradually make the cereal thicker. There is no need to sweeten this cereal for babies. They love it and find it very satisfying. Be especially sure to use only organic ingredients, keep everything very clean and do not use any salt when cooking for babies.
